What David Know

Tom was born, as a single child
At home with love and joy
But outside, he ran free and wild
As a street wise young boy

He’d cheat, steal, to his parents lie
His life was all but slow
Though growing up, he wondered why
A friend to church would go

Asking David his friend right there
Why pleased he’d always be
Smiling, He answered, “If you dare
Come with me and see”

He went, he heard, and then he saw
The things they had to tell
Later when truth, opened the door
He knew, there is a hell

He heard that Heaven too was real
That death, had lost its sting
All of a sudden he could feel
As if his heart took wing

What was happening, what was to do?
His soul felt electrified
There is a God; righteous and true
And Christ’s Kingdom inside

What more had Heaven’s Lord to say?
Bible always at hand
Eating, drinking night and day
Seeking to understand

Till he knew, knew; what David knew
Sitting at Jesus’ feet
His Saviour died and rose anew
Denied out on the street…..
