What Does 1 John 1: 9 Mean To Us? Poem by Roxanne Dubarry

What Does 1 John 1: 9 Mean To Us?

1st John 1: 9, "IF we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

What does the Bible mean when Jesus Christ tells us to confess our sins? It means we freely admit to being sinners first of all.
It means we have already listened to the holy spirit's call.

Our sins are forgiven! Our past, present and future sins have gone away and we are offered pardon. At least we are delivered! We can be cleansed! We are clean! What wonderful freedom from sins' power over us it means!

And be cleansed from all unrighteous that has held us in bondage!
Is it any wonder why sin has no more claim on us! His offer of freedom is available to all who will receive it.

It does not give us a license to sin. We must also become willing
to forsake our sins and close its doors. God realizes we make mistakes over and over again. Yet he remains faithful and true. What about me and what about you?
