Freedom


To me freedom means
walking in rains
and crying where no one
sees my tears.
To me freedom means
to steal the fragrance
from flowers in the dead of night
when bees go to sleep.
To me freedom means
whistling in the darkness
when the stars hide
in the canopies of clouds.
To me freedom means
to sit with a glass of beer
and fishing reel by some solitary beach where salmon jumps
and mackerels glide in my fishing net.
To me freedom means
cuddling the poor, maimed,
the wretched of the earth
cutting across the barriers
of caste, creed and religion.
To me freedom means
writing a poem on damsels
or daffodils without rhymes.
To me freedom means
living all those dreams
that got fossilised on the rocks
of inhibitions and prohibitions.
