What Is This Life? Poem by Michael P. Johnson

We need to seek what life’s about
God’s truth to really see
Be free of all our fear and doubt
And whom to bend the knee

Who can be saved from sin on earth?
Who can be Jesus’ bride?
Who can receive a second birth?
And turn on death the tide?

We’ve heard that Satan’s out to kill
To cheat, to lie and steal
To keep us from The Father’s will
And rob us of His Seal

The church is there, but who’s to know
Through discord, which is right?
Disharmony from head to toe
Yet claim to have “The Light”

Each testifies to have the cure
The truth is this and that
While unity is out the door
With “Welcome” on the mat

The world at large is lost and blind
She writhes in sinful pain
Instead of seeking peace of mind
She lusts for selfish gain

In life her children have a need
We need to find The Way
We need for life, Salvation’s Seed
We need God’s Lamb today!

Without The Christ, there’s no way out
His blood alone makes free
That’s what the cross is all about
Yet most fail now to see…
