What’s The Reward?

What’s man’s reward when free of sin?
What else can faith explore?
What prize does hope yet hope to win?
Behind a faithless door

Is anything worth the worry?
What’s worth a sinless life?
That one should die in a hurry
However much the strife

Can it be true what is written?
And real what Christians say
That so many are smitten
Upon their knees to pray

That which has happened to others
That which sets countless free
That which gross darkness smothers
Can it happen to me?

For if it’s real what I hear now
And truly from Heaven above
I would like others my knee bow
And seek God’s grace and love

They say the Bible’s life’s source here
For seeking Truth & Light
To learn The Lord God to fear
Enough to join in the fight

I can’t wait God’s Word to acquire
Purchase soon as I can
Regardless how much I tire
I want to know Heaven’s plan

For unlike the fool this morning
Seen in my mirror quite plain
Even before the next dawning
I pray to be born again
