When Do The Tears Not Flow From Eyes? A Urdu Ghazal By Mir Taqi Mir In English Translation Poem by Ravi Kopra

When Do The Tears Not Flow From Eyes? A Urdu Ghazal By Mir Taqi Mir In English Translation

When the eyes don't well up with tears
The blood shows up in anger there

I was not losing my sense of selfhood
But when in need, it is wasn't there

I showed lot of patience when my friend left
It's has been ages and yet he hasn't come here

I emptied my heart of unfulfilled desires
Tears fell in torrents. There was a reason there

Love has patience in waging wagers
Else no one would have eloquence anywhere

O friend! words refuse to come to my lips. My heart
Has a lot to tell. But lies wounded deep down there

'Mir' is sitting lovelorn far off in the dust
He doesn't know what to do or go anywhere.

ashk aankhon mein kab nahin aata
by Mir Taqi Mir

ashk āñkhoñ meñ kab nahīñ aatā
lahū aatā hai jab nahīñ aatā

hosh jaatā nahīñ rahā lekin
jab vo aatā hai tab nahīñ aatā

sabr thā ek mūnis-e-hijrāñ
so vo muddat se ab nahīñ aatā

dil se ruḳhsat huī koī ḳhvāhish
girya kuchh be-sabab nahīñ aatā

ishq ko hausla hai shart arna
baat kā kis ko Dhab nahīñ aatā

jī meñ kyā kyā hai apne ai hamdam
par suḳhan tā-ba-lab nahīñ aatā

duur baiThā ġhubār-e-'mīr' us se
ishq bin ye adab nahīñ aatā
