When every light is off
And the little ones to sleep
The sadness rolls right in
So strong it knocks you off your feet

Feeling open and exposed
With nothing near to keep you down
In an instant swept you up
Instilling fear you'll surely drown

But, as you slip away
You feel a tug upon your heart
It yanks you back to earth
Because you still must do your part

Chained firmly to the floor
By a lock not one can break
The slack just long enough
Knowing when to give and take

Some nights you drift so far
It seems you'll never make it back
But these bonds will never fail
Because His love you never lack
