When I Am With You Poem by Jocelyn Dunbar

As I dig your words, ponder it to my heart,
Thinking to my thoughts;
My mind eye opened,
My uncertainties find trust,
Your promises are fulfilled,
Your declaration comes.

Lord, my God,
Teach me to follow your orders,
Then I will obey them to the very end.
Assisting me in fully understanding your law,
Then I will follow it
And obeys it with all my heart;

Teach me to live as you command because it makes me happy.
Make me want to follow your covenant law;
Instead of wanting to gain things only for myself
Turn my eyes away from worthless things.
Keep me alive as you have promised,
Then other people will have respect for you;
Please don't let me put you to shame.
Keep me safe. (Psalm 119-33: 40)

Guide me not to cloud you to what I am doing to serve you.
All credit belongs to you, as I live for you.
You satisfy my soul and my longing.
When I am with you,
I am complete.
