When She's Not There Poem by Matt Burgett

When She's Not There

Depression and angst comes over me
As we were the best of friends
Now not even falling out of a tree
Can jog your memory of me

Somewhere along the lines
We just lost touch
I say its my fault
You shake your head yes
And say those times were the best

Sometimes I wish she wasn't there
I wish that she was gone
I know how much you love her
And how much you two believe
So I understand now
I guess I'll just leave

I'm walking down the street now
Turning to look now is hard to bare
You ask me if it will ever be the same
I say.....The day she's not there
