When You Touch A Photo Poem by Lauren Beasley

When You Touch A Photo

When you touch a photo
Of a forgotten face
And recall how it felt
To feel their embrace
You're reminded it happened
The memories are real
Though it feels like a dream
Too distant to feel
The emotions come flooding
The thoughts all come back
Once, you suppressed them
But that strength you now lack
A trip back in time
You relive for a bit
That which you'd forgotten
And what you tried to forget
You hold the photo close
It's all you have left
To remind you of the joy
Of which you're bereft
A forgotten face
To be forgotten again
Till you run across it once more
And let the cycle begin
