Where Gwendoline Stays Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Where Gwendoline Stays

Where Gwendoline stays is far from here
She takes two buses and a train
But the distance of desire is much further

Where Gwendoline stays is unrequited
Is discussed over coffee and awkward laughter
A joke to her - not so much a joke to me

It's a place where no is always on the tips of the tongues of the residents
The border guards stamp your hands with fluorescent letters
People stare at you from houses then close the shutters

Following Gwendoline will do no good
She'll vanish before we get very far
This is the role you fill in life
This is the role I fill in life
Gwendoline strongly fought any overlap
