Where Were You? Poem by brianna christine

Where Were You?

Rating: 4.0

Only when she's gone
will you realize what you've done
all the hurtful words
the rejection
you pushed her over the edge
helped her take her own life
if only you'd been kind
held out a hand
to help her up when she fell
but maybe it was her fault
she was so good at pretending
making it seem like everything was okay
you couldn't have known
that inside was a mass casuality
a battered soul
to weak to keep on moving forward
so maybe she was her own worst enemy
but don't think you didn't have an impact
she remembers everything you said
everything you never did
most importantly
that you weren't there when she needed you most
so ask yourself this...
when she lay there dying from her own hand
where were you?
