Where You Need To Be Poem by Kerri White

Where You Need To Be

Rating: 5.0

I don't think you're sure of anything
and if you were, just where would you be?
In order for you to be actually happy
You just might have to have me.

But instead, you destroy it like
you've always messed up
a little bit of everything you've touched.

But I'm so tired of excusing you
and piecing together ancient memories
thinkin' they made you be this way.

You can try to hold yourself;
cause yourself to smile
like you know only I can.

And when it's dark and you can feel me,
try to grab for me to pull me closer,
but you realize I was never there-
you can pretend that won't get to you...

the way it'll get to me.
But today I think I'm gonna try to be
a little more like you, and a little less of me.
Poision my heart
and praise my mind.
It can tell me bad things about you
to make me stay a little farther behind.

Maybe that's where I need to be,
growing less fond of you
and a little more tolerant of me.

This is beating you up on the inside,
but not enough to tear you down.
Maybe that's where you need to be,
growing less fond of you,
and a little more tolerant of me.
