Who Am I? Poem by cassie slaughter

As I lay here in bed
With darkness all around me
I begin to have flash backs
As my past surrounds me
Once again
I begin to relive the pain
Of the nightmares from my past
And as I go back through all the pain
I wonder
Is this who I am?
Is this how my life was supposed to be?
Full of abuse
And thoughts of suicide
Wishing everyday
That I would just die
So I could be free
Free of the pain
That my family had caused me
Then reality hits
And I'm back in my room
As I begin to feel confused
With tears in my eyes
I begin to wonder
Who am I?
