Who Are You? Im Me Poem by Nikki Addleton

Who Are You? Im Me

Who are you to tell me what to do?
Who are you to tell me what to think?

Who are you to tell me what to say?

Who are you to tell me how to speak?
And who are you to tell me how to live?

I am who i am, i say!

I do what i like, im me
My own person
No matter what you..
DO
THINK
SAY
SPEAK or LIVE

I do it my way

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

And that is all we can do. WE have to live our own lives, and parents seem to forget that we are individuals with dreams and goals and thoughts of our own. We cannot be clones of our parents, because then we wouldn't be individuals but robots. A friend of mine ends her comments after reading someone else's work like this. 'I know who I am, I am me, and I like me.' This poem has a very true message for everybody to heed, not just the young children. Adults need to know that what is expected of them in society is only making robots out of them. I am not a robot, I am a human being, and I have the right to lead my own life, and have my own thougths and dreams, as well as my own goals. I am not a clone of my mother. I am unique, and I am me. A 10+++++ for its message, courage, and the way it is written. Thank you for sharing. Love & hugs, Barbara
