Who They Were. Poem by Tom Allport

Who They Were.

In their pursuit
For truth, peace and equality
The Chicago 8 then 7
Really do deserve
A place in our hearts and minds
For they made everybody aware
The cruel injustice
The sad reality
Of political decisions
By using unjust laws
To send them all to jail
Because of who they were
Was in fact
A travesty of American justice.
