Who Was I? Poem by Aiman Saleem

Who Was I?

I wasn't a friend.
I wasn't a foe.
I was much more.

I didn't wage a war.
I didn't go far.
I just loved you a lot.

Just listen to your beating heart
Who was I? You'll know it all

I didn't play.
I didn't betray.
I just loved you in crazy way.

I wasn't mean.
I wasn't obscene.
I just loved you clean.

Would you listen to your beating heart?
Who was I? You'll know it all

I wasn't a bad man.
Being bad was not my plan.
The plan was to love you as much as I can.

This hurt is skin deep.
Now, I too can't sleep.
You're still this close to me.

Please listen to your beating heart
Who am I? You'll know it all

This life lingers on me like a ghost,
You're the only one,
The only one I love the most!
