Why Can'T You Listen Poem by Jo Lynn Ehnes

Why Can'T You Listen

Why is it
That I'm always
The one who's
In the wrong?

Couldn't you
For once
Hear the words
Within my song?

The tone you use
Is cutting
And rips my
Heart in two.

I wish you
Would have
Listened
To my worthless
Point-of-view.

At least then
From you're
Stabbing
Of this one
Who calls
You friend,

Your mind
Won't feel
The guilt
When this
Injured
Friend
Can't mend.

So go along
Your way
Make believe
You didn't
Care,

Just remember
When you
Need me
Why my
Friendship
Isn't there.
