Why Do I Love You? Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Why Do I Love You?

I like the idea of the fantasy I've made up in my mind
you're far from that perfect picture in my imagination
and when reality strikes, disappointment settles in
i like mysteries that leads me on an investigation
A dangerous and dark journey to discover your truth
and it's cruel, cruel how you treat me
Thought that we were better than that
I know you now, I know to stay away
it baffled me before, i can't ignore
what the heart has been feeling
you see, i could go over it
a thousand times within my mind
making pathetic excuses
you don't know how to love
so why should I love you
You don't know how to feel
so what I am feeling is only an illusion
an illusion created in the depths of my mind
it have helped spark a feeling
that was never truly real
my eyes are openned, now i see
you would not be no good for me
your eyes have told a story
I refuse to fall bait
i've let you go indefinitely
the internal war i had going with myself
was the warning that things
should not see the light of day
no matter how attracted to you i was
I stepped in, saved myself from the mistake
that would of came of us
