Why Do I Write Poetry Poem by Guess Who

Why Do I Write Poetry

Here I am deep in thought
In it's ocean I am lost
Lost I am trying to understand me
Wondering why i wrote my poetry?
Wondering why is it so necessary?
Wandering in the plains of affection
Maybe poems are the reason of my satisfaction
Wasn't it love moments ago?
Love and peace around me?
Surrounded by friends and a beloved family?
Confused I guess I just let it go
Far away I saw beautiful river
Close enough the view became better
This is no river, What is it?
Black & slimy left me in disgust
But wait it does smell good
Sure this is my filthy hatred
I went to discover the source
It wasn't as easy of course
Along the way I discovered more
The ground just plain gold ore
The leaves some old poetical essays
'Dreamland' as guess who says
A boundary free land created for poems
Maybe the source is my problems
I climb hard to find the truth
Right ahead I see it
Right at the end of the river
It was there waiting for me
It was there holding the answer
It was there I expected it to be
My fellow caged bird
I understand it all now
How did I forget? Just how?
Yes you're the reason I wrote it all
Poetry is my deafening call
So it was ink all the way
Guess my poetry shall live for another day
Until the day I always wait for
Maybe I'll understand more
But just why do I write poetry? ?
