Why Good Friends Hurt You Worse Than Foes At Times? Poem by Dr John Celes

Why Good Friends Hurt You Worse Than Foes At Times?

When stress from hurts by friends can mount up high,
And you can't hurt them back in any way,
The piquant situation can make one sad,
As you don't know the things correct to do.

Good friends are good to us in life mostly;
Yet fear and envy fills their hearts at times;
An angry person hurts, however good;
Good friends are not your foes although they err!

And Jesus asks us to forgive our foes!
Can we forgive not friends who have been good?
The human mind and heart can sin and err;
We cannot judge good friends and foes alike.

God makes each human form from special clay;
The Potter moulds the clay to vessels fine;
The Tempter sows the seeds of discord sly;
So, human beings fight for flimsy scores!

When Jesus bore the heavy cross barefoot
For mankind's cause and redemption of souls,
Forgiving every sinner for all time,
Can't we forgive our brethren friends at times?

To show our other cheek to ones who hurt
Is what our Jesus Lord had instructed;
‘Tooth for tooth' and nail for nail' is not right;
‘Violence begets violence', the Bible says.

Bless those who curse and pray for those who hurt;
When we forgive those who trespass us, then,
God will forgive and forget our sins all,
And His harvest of souls for heaven's good.

My heart feels hurt but Lord bleeds from the cross;
When foes can hurt, it makes us better still;
Friends hurt when they are in harrowing times;
Each storm will clear and bring the needed calm!

Help us forgive our friends who hurt at times;
Do heal their wounds of heart and love refill;
We needn't pay ‘tit for tat' always in life;
Forgiveness is a virtue to practice.

Dear God, we pray for every friend and foe;
Give us the grace of heart to bear our hurts;
Let love replace the hearts where anguish burns;
Help us to forgive friend and foe alike.

Comfort the souls rampaged by devilish hordes;
Much precious time is being wasted fast;
Remove the fears and worries filling hearts;
Let friends grow fonder, enemies relent.

The hurts of hearts by ones you love hurt most;
Our anger soars like eagles high for prey;
We wish to take revenge on those who hurt;
But wisdom, prudence make you sober soon.

Just take some rest and pray hard from your heart;
God brings the sun and rain to all alike;
God wants all human souls to see His face;
But sin must leave your heart, however least.

Sometimes, the rosy life can give you blues;
God help us cope our stressful times becalmed;
Drive devils off and protect all from harm;
Triumph must truth, and love prevail always.

Those who are hurt will hurt us even more;
We must apply the balm of kindness then;
Forgive those hearts of love that hurt us now;
God heals the wounds of heart and love then pours.
Amen!
