Why Not Me. Poem by David de Haas

Why Not Me.

I sit here and type letters to you and you’ll never read them…
I watch you smile and cry. I cry and smile with you.
But your embrace goes to some one else.
My life moves on only to end up like before..
Meaningless and empty
I worked so hard, taking blow after blow
trying to help you.
But you seek comfort in him
Why not me?
Am I not special enough?
Your tears hit me like an ocean wave.
Drowning me in your sorrow, your anger
you ask me to come over!
Yet he is already there…
DAM YOU!
I was there when every one walked away
Right beside you, always a phone call away
and you rather call some one else
am I not close to your heart
or just a tool to be used when needed?
