Why Worry Poem by Paul Reed

Why Worry

"Baby

I say this world has made me sad

Some people can be so bad

"The things they do, the things they say

But baby

I'll chase away those bitter tears

Chase away those restless fears

That turn your blue skies into grey

Why worry...

There should be laughter after pain

There should be sunshine after rain

And these things have always been the same

So why worry now

Why worry now"

- Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits 1985

O, the time we waste

When we could be feeling love

Instead of the strain -

We will never get

Those times back again;

O, the time we spend

In fruitless, pointless pursuit

Of things that don't exist -

That tear at your heart

That clench the fist;

O, if we could just let go

Those worries we protect

And keep in our breast -

We could throw away those yesterdays

And be happy in the rest.
