Widow's Watch

From a widow's watch
a young maiden squints through the rain
waiting for her lover
to return
knowing no one could escape
the storm's evil snare
when the lightening strikes
she knows he is gone
and her heart it tears
bringing half of it to the bottom of the sea
with him
though she knows
he will not return
no matter how she yearns
forever she watches
from a widow's watch

In earth or heaven;
Finding thy way through prison-bars
Up to the stars;
