Will Power Poem by Kishore Kumar Das

Will Power

Twentyfive years after
Mount Everest conquered
the myth remained strong
can anybody conquer
Everest without oxygen?
doctors warn of catastrophe
scaling Everest without oxygen
death bell will be ringing
but one person, not convinced
Messner, the Italian mountaineer
his will power carried him
to achieve this incredible feat
with less than eighty vertical meters
left to climb
he collapsed every ten feet
and crawled to the
highest point on earth
in his own language
' my mind was fully dead
only my soul pushing me forward.'
we may not need
that much will power
only a fraction of that
may be enough for us
but it's will power....
that makes all the difference.
