Winters Kiss Poem by Alc Harris

Winters Kiss

Rating: 5.0

Winter comes
long nights and days of subdued light
crisp sunshine an imposter
that cannot soothe chapped lips
it is said that winter be a thief of smiles
but I like to wear layers of comfort against my skin
eat warm pastries to satisfy within
dance with the leaves and falling snow
and then
when wind burnt hands and hearts numb
take them in to be warmed
beside the fire with deep mulled wine and wisdom
the only one to have no regrets from
is the lingering kiss of winter
