Wisdom Poem by Raymond Farrell

Wisdom

First of all, without exception
You must be willing to hear.

Wisdom is conceived
And then brought to term
In the belly of silence
Born with open eyes and ears
And jaws shut tight as a vice
Open only when pertinent.

I have seen her active
In the heat of discussion
Slowly revealing her ancient truths
Verbally excavating an ancient ruins
Carefully, meticulously, deliberately
There is no haste
As she methodically lays bare
Precept upon precept
Line upon line
Gold, silver, rubies
Enhance her speech
And soft melodious tones
Carry her principles
Laden with pure knowledge
To waiting ears.

But, first of all, without exception
You must be willing to hear.
