Wishing Well Poem by Margo Reid

Wishing Well

I throw a quarter in the wishing well,
Then I asked, “Would my wish come true? ”
The wishing well said, “Only time can tell! ”
But your love will one day come to you.

I throw a dime in the wishing well,
Then I asked, “Would my wish come true? ”
It said, “Baby girl you’ll get well,
But I’m telling you,
You better turn around your ways,
Or you’ll be tormented and burn in HELL! ”

I said, “Wishing well, wishing well,
How do you know my love will come to me? ”
It said, “I told you once before, only time can tell,
But someday you will see,
With you, your lover will be! ”

I throw a penny, a nickel and another dime
And said, “Wishing well, its almost time for to go,
There’s things running through my mind,
And there’s just one more thing I want you to know,
I never can tell when my wish will come true,
But wishing well,
I want you to know next time; I’ll come back to you.
