With Baited Hooks And Bated Breath Poem by Karen Edwards

With Baited Hooks And Bated Breath

With baited hooks and bated breath
out on the dock, sit side by side
two life-long friends that once again
compete for bragging rights, for pride.

Both lines cast out, one slack, one taut,
with baited hooks and bated breath,
fate smiled upon one fisherman,
as a poor minnow met its death.

Again, the two pursue their luck,
they wait eagerly for a bite,
with baited hooks and bated breath,
another fish begins to fight.

Now both anglers have made a catch,
they must compare the length and breadth.
Ruled the same, they cast out again,
with baited hooks and bated breath.
