With Those Dog Tags Poem by Kathryn Marie Thurman

With Those Dog Tags

Rating: 5.0

Away at war,
and in a foreign land.
Your heart being torn,
between two great demands.

The love of your family,
didn't want you to go.
But this world and it's insanity,
to terrorist threats, we say no.

Your proud of the flag,
that is flown up so high.
That with those dog tags,
we knew you were willing to die.

A soliers heart beats,
of fear and dismay.
But cannot bear defeat,
so these feelings are not displayed.

Aware of the threat,
upon their innocent lives.
They stepped up to fight,
to correct international lies.

The commitment they have,
to the red, white and blue.
May their lives be filled with laughs,
and keep the american dream true.
