With Time, History Repeats Itself! Poem by Dr John Celes

With Time, History Repeats Itself!

With time,

Relatives drift apart
Loved ones become unloved
Ones held in great esteem turn unwanted
Blood turns thinner than water
New walls of ego and prestige arise
Misunderstandings become stronger
Differences reinforce and multiply
Selfishness draws smaller circles
Love and affection vanish
Childhood years of togetherness disappear
Pedigree chart becomes complex
Newer friends and relatives emerge
Old traditions and cultural values dissolve
Life plays a cruel game amongst blood relatives
Brothers and sisters become strangers
Kith and kin refuse to revere the elderly
The world of love turns into one of inertness
One wonders whether life is really worth living!
But these are the sad realities of earthly life
All must undergo the stages and phases
There is no escape for anyone
Righteousness and principles get scorned
None can change the other
History repeats itself!
