Without Stephen Poem by jess schwarcz

Without Stephen

Rating: 5.0

I fake a smile so you won’t see
The pain that’s lurking inside of me
You pass on by with a smile and wink
But something inside of me continues to sink
You’re just another one I hoped would be him
The one that understands and my fears would dim.

I told you things I wouldn’t tell anyone
For some reason unknown
Maybe it was the look in your eyes
But I know it’s the reason why
The fire within me won’t die

Maybe it was the way you played guitar
Or the way you knew it would all be okay
But it ended up just being another day

You’re all I ever want to think about
But in the end, you’re the one I have to live without
My mind is full of new and old memories
You walking down the hall with your coffees
Acting like everything but a freshy
I remember that time to you I promised
That I again wouldn’t believe the words of a rapist

You are my moonshine and sunshine
You ended up breaking that heart of mine
The other day you walked away from me
Even though I knew from the beginning
That we weren’t meant to be

I fake a smile so you won’t see
The pain that’s lurking inside of me
You pass on by with a smile and wink
But something inside of me continues to sink
You’re all I want to think about
But in the end, you’re the one I have to live without
