Wolves Poem by Lilly Wells

Wolves

I hear them before i see them
howling
howling with all there might!
I see them come around the bend
The browns, grays, and the whites
I search until i see her
Nightshade!
her coat pitch black as the sky with out the stars or the moon
but with a hint a sliver down her face
she with her sharp fangs and claws
I beckon her forth come Nightshade
I need your comfort
for I am an abounded girl
with one blue and green eye
she comforted me with her love
soft breathing, smell of the woods on her warm fur
she starts to howl
that is the last thing i hear is the sound of her voice and the others joining in as
I fall asleep to their sweet song
as i awake i see that she has gone
but in her passing she has left me a great gift
A pup I can call my own
for my guardians are the wolves
Nightshade I shall raise this pup well
I shall see you again
but for now I shall say farewell my beloved Nightshade!
