Word-Worker Poem by Frank Adie

Word-Worker

I am a wordsmith
I work with words
The keyboard is my anvil
Where I beat words into shapes
The dictionary is the bellows
That stokes my vocabulary fire
From it I draw out words
And beat them into poetic effigies.

I am a word-weaver
I work with words
I warp and weft words
To create my craft
I take single words
And weave them into poetic wholes.

I am a potter
Word is my clay
The dictionary is my source of raw material
From where I derive words
And mould them into poetic forms
Ballad, blank verse, burlesque
Epic, elegy, epitaph
Couplets, quatrains or Sonnet
Is the end product of my craft.
