Words Of Love(For Janice) Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Words Of Love(For Janice)

Rating: 5.0

Words of love
blossom from your mouth

& tentatively stepping forth
tip toe across the space

between us
leaving footprints on the air

hijacking my laughter
to enter into my mouth

& tobogganing
down my central nervous system

running riot
amongst my bloodstream

playing hide & seek
with my pulse

racing madly ahead of it
then coyly hiding from it

your love
coursing through my veins

setting fire to
my imagination

delighting each & every cell

lighting up
my red corpuscles

until I(beside) (my self) (by now)

come to my senses
& do the proper thing

translate it back
to you
(speaking solely in tongues)

in the lovely language
of Kiss

(although there is no need to
as you are fully fluent in it)

words & kisses
leading us to bed

where we all passion
spent

lie gently together

as a fallen leaf
may rest

amongst the tiny arms
of grass

the empty swing
still swinging

as the sun
sets.

Thank you for this beautiful poem, Dónall. So many gentle and sensual images and references in one short piece... the language of kisses is not all you speak. and I love you.
