Words To Myself Poem by Victor Okechukwu Anyaegbuna

Words To Myself

Show me the way home
That earth shall find its way
To loosen on a motley heap
And tear spirits that held me whole.

Or let me kneel astride
Like barbecued goat on Formica gloss;
That feasts may declare abundance of meat
When sharp daggers
My lifeless carcass shall tear
Till my bones stare
Leaving tales untold
Ere I come again.

Let me then feel the dagger's pride
That severed the shining jelly cord
And set me free again
Moments after I shrieked
To plant joy that killed pains.

Let me hear again the sound of earth
That the spirits watered
The breath that gave me new life
And pampered my new home
Where my fires shall burn
To mend my menace
Before I quit again
To a glorious end.
