Oh Father
This is an ode to You
A song to Your heart
An offering of joy from an overflowing heart
Any song or expression of any kind
Does not dare draw equal to deserved praise, from man’s mind

I’m at a loss for words
To express the magnificence and grace
Your greatness to capture
How can I speak and utter mere words
Strained by the language of man
Trying to describe my love and admiration, my adoration
My desire to fill all that I am with all that You are

Oh forgive my lackings drawing near to You

I desire to utter and proclaim
Your majesty so all-encompassingly plain
To feel the thrill of words
Emanate Your true glory from my love-confessing lips

How do I enter into more of You
And stay in a world devoid of You?
How do I contain the fullness of joy
Bursting out inside of me?
How do I stay humanly plain,
My expressing of You limited by what’s humanly sane
How do I just contain the light
Bursting out by Your brilliance of might!

I seek and desire new words
Transcending the captures of language
That carries on mighty soaring waves
The true glory of a God who lovingly saves
A language of love perfected in praise
As the essence of You it mightily raise!

How can Your magnificence
Not be seen by a world by You created
How can they not help but proclaim
A God who out of love was so fated

My desire is for Your face
For the music from Your lips
Your voice echoing in my soul
Purification flowing as our faces meet
Come Lord now,
Let me blaze with Your face’s heat!
