Writing For My Audience #1 Poem by Roxanne Dubarry

Writing For My Audience #1

{I recently told my Compass Health clinician 111, Greg Richardson,
about writing for my audience.He is taking a well deserved break from writing his sci fiction/fantasy novel (the title is either zone wars or war zones) .He works for Compass Health forty hours a week and makes pizza as a side job.}

He is keeping his mind and body well occupied.
It is one thing I can not deny works well for him.
I have taken a break from my Carl Gipson Senior
Center Writing forum for several years now.

Topics such as politics and religion are banned
for a very good reasons. Poets and writers,
have different points of view.Otherwise
our forum could become heated I am telling you.

When my left ankle heals, I plan on returning.
And practicing a skill I need improvement-
listening.I also need practice on positive
and short love notes evaluations.

When I return I will listen to my peers.
All of us are of senior years.
I will discover what works they
are sharing with us.
In that way I will learn how to write
for my listening audience.
I sincerely hope,
you will pray for me!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Whenever you have a listening audience,
it is good to understand and know their preferences.
I am aware they are writing about childhood memories,
and whimsical observances. It has been several years,
since I have enjoyed their company.
