Writing Me Off Poem by Susan Lacovara

Writing Me Off

Rating: 5.0

Fear flutters

Fierce and with a violent strike

Deep within a soured stomach

Churnings, burnings...

What if I not my recognizable self

To you

I walk the plank of uncertainty

Trying to balance on a loosely strung tightrope

Knowing one wrong move could cause

A great and tragic tumble

I only want to collect the shattered pieces

Decide if gluing them back together

Will be better than tossing them out

This fear of seeing your crumbling façade

Rips me apart

If only to find the small space

That once was safe

between US

My hands would cease to tremble

When I see your pen stroke

Writing me off.....

Deep and sad poem there is no hope here but maybe a glimmer of realisation Love and relationships always foundering on the rocks of cruelty or displacement Where we wonder is the safe place between us. Great piece
