Years Fly By Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Years Fly By

I awoke to glorious splendour;
blue skies were crystal clear
on that first morn in 'two thousand'
when sunbeams shone o'er Tyne & Wear.
I could not see one cloud above
to mar the northern sky.
No breeze to stir the splendour,
just a 'flying squad' of birds on high.
A most unusual daybreak...
'twas God's gift ~ our hearts to cheer.
The 'Millennium' stepping stone was crossed
and so began a special year.
