You Poem by Doris Cornago

Rating: 5.0

The brief life of two marigolds
Cut off from the mainstream
Of life before they use up
What's for all the buds
Still closed waiting
For their turn at
Life in the
Garden
Briefly
Life
Is
Us
Now
Awakened
By the evening
Heat and the hum
Of the ancient aircon
The room vibrates with
The sound of cars rushing
To unknown night destinations
Life goes on wheels and we are
Flatfooted, encumbered with thoughts
Limber up and walk to the bridge on your
Mind, ready to cross it to an unknown
Land, where lies the innermost need
A question unanswered for long
Who minds the empty house
When everyone walks out
Carrying with them
Bits and pieces
Of you, and
You finally
Know
It's
You.
