You Are On Our Side Poem by Lors Dilouley

You Are On Our Side

I throw myself down at Your feet.
So weary, beaten down,
and I am in despair.

In my feeble human mind,
I imagine that You move Your glorious eyes
down onto my crumbled posture.

What do You see?
Do You look at me and shake Your head
thinking why? Why did I create such a small race?

Do You wonder, as You stare at my tear-streaked face,
Why is she so weak?
How can she be so tired after so little?

Do You glance at my tangled hair
and question why You even created me?
Do You sometimes regret forming my existence?

In my hopelessness You present Your power.
You choose me.
My weakness, my strength and all of me.

You don't just tolerate me.
No; much more than that -
You use me.

You make me like Your radiant Son.
I have nothing to give You, but You take it anyway.
You are on my side.
