You Can Only Live To Be' Poem by Francis Duggan

You Can Only Live To Be'

You only can live to be the best you can be
But who is successful to you may not be so to me
Suppose most of us see others in our ways differently
And even those with similar opinions on some things disagree
But then how boring we would be if we all thought in the same way
That variety is the spice of life only seems true to say
But only those who are quite mentally strong
After a disagreement are brave enough to admit they are wrong
I do believe though your name may never appear on a memorial wall
That you are a good person if you believe on a fair go for all
So much emphasis placed on money and materialism in the Human World of today
And you need to be looked on as successful you hear so many say
But the one who is successful to you may not be so to me
As we do look at others in ways differently.
