You Can't Change Anyone Poem by Pen Anthony

You Can't Change Anyone

Me and you haven't
Written a poem together
Now this chance presents itself
Walk with me
(now stop) think

Think about someone you dated
He was truly not what you wanted
So you told yourself that they'll change
Because you loved them

Now walk with me again
(now stop) think
Think about someone you loved
That really meant the world to you
Your best friend didn't like them

Your parents didn't approve
But they gave them the benefit of a doubt
Because it is the first time
You'd brought someone home
Alone to your thoughts
You wanted more

More than they could offer
More than they were willing
To be to make you happy
Still you stayed
You thought they'd change
Because you loved them

Now before we walk far off
What will make you see you can't change anyone
They'll change only if they want to
I say it's easier counting stars
Than trying to change someone.
