You'Re My Arms No More Poem by Kevin Cox

You'Re My Arms No More

You're in my arms no more.
I don't have you beside me..
I cannot see your face
except when I'm asleep.

I'm still with you there
in dreams of warm compassion.
I feel your touch.
I hear your voice.
My heart is full within me.

And so, I seek you there,
in that other world
where cruel reality
is gone but for a moment.

My waking life is pain.
Deep anguish fills my soul.
So many dread reminders
that you're not with me now.

I seek you in my dreams.
I call to you to come;
to be with me once more,
till dawn tears us apart.

My empty heart is broken
without you with me here.
Each day's a weary trial
till darkness falls once more.

Then when the shadows fade
And light of day's no more
You come to me, my love.
Why must life be so cruel
To tear us far apart?

Why could you not remain
with me here in my arms?
My consolation is that
I'll be there one day;
with you once again
never more to part.

So, I await the night
that bids me run to you
and dream of you, my love
my soul, my everything.
