You Two Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

You Two

You two

Tony’s prof; he teaches
The same is with Leo
(Young man who teaches,)

First born in Toronto
Parents were immigrants
(East Europe, of Poland)

Latter too immigrant
All alone by himself
(East Europe, Romanian)

Two trees like citrons
One is sweet soft
Other’s sour hard
In talking of the “Ism”
Capitalism, communism

Both go for distance
Things they didn’t have
Communism, Capitalism

Both go for absent
Things they less experienced
Simple living, Industrialism

What a life!
We should laugh.
Neither is correct.

Where’s bridge?
Where’s a grey?
(Not baton; but by heart,)
