You Were There Poem by Charley Staines

You Were There

There I sat on the cold, stone floor,
Wrapped, tightly around myself,
Tears falling and drying, like icicles on a window pane,
The wind whistled in the distance,
Singing to me, settling my spirit,
Silently I was wishing, wishing for you,
Whispering your name, channeling my hope,
All for you, only for you.

In my dreams, there you were,
Next to me you sat, your warmth surrounding,
My hand you held, my heart you protected,
Holding me tightly, for a second, I swore I heard you say,
'I'm here now Princess, everything will be okay.'
