'Yowzah Yowzah Yowzah' Poem by Robert Sheridan

'Yowzah Yowzah Yowzah'

People are the ultimate spectacle
Once into dreams, now into crime
Disparate characters desperate to
win - always in a depression mode
nothing more than opportunists,
they are emcees in their own little
marathons - urging themselves on
to victory without wanting to pay
the price - waiting for execution
at the same time when they're
living in misery (loves company,
don't ya think?): busily trying to
recruit substitute partners for
their own cynical malcontent;
suffering from delusions of
grandeur like an impoverished
farm worker; but like in a
marathon, the weaker pairs
are eliminated quickly, while
observing the vulnerabilities
of the stronger contestants,
and then exploiting them for
the general public's amusement;
and as in life, numerous expenses
will be deducted, leaving them with
next to nothing; and in a last attempt,
try to shoot themselves, but cannot
pull the trigger; the marathon continues...
