Rohan De1 Poems

The date and time and place are set,
The pleasantries, exchanged;
You have read my profile,
Yet I know not who you are;
...

Unheard, unseen, unknown are shadow's men,
Making in far flung places their humble den;
These unnamed heroes seek no glory,
Only achievements galvanise their story;
...

I see the unquenchable thirst in Your eyes,
I see Your money and twisted lies.

The Arctic You seek to plunder,
...

It was hot summer day when my eyes first saw,
The facades of men and the emptiness within them,
Their forbidding exterior put on for the world to see,
To hide the frightened infant, crying within.

Rohan De1 Biography

I am a student trying to look at the world from a different perspective. I try to draw my inspiration from my surroundings with nature and every day life influencing my literature. I believe in the philosophy of carpe-diem and my poems reflect this. I idolise Keats, Shelley, Rabindranath and Wordsworth and try to infuse their idiologies with my style.)

An Interview

The date and time and place are set,
The pleasantries, exchanged;
You have read my profile,
Yet I know not who you are;
You tell me to relax but you know that I can not.

Your questions I do answer,
Your face betrays not like nor dislike,
Suddenly you catch me of guard, a question unanticipated,
I can feel your scrutinising eyes,
At last I reveal my true self, with no effort to impress.

The talks drift to the realm of informality,
You and I are both more comfortable,
Sipping at our coffee to avoid the silences,
Our similarities I understand, knowing not your impression,
The Decision, you have already made, one that I can know not.

As you answer my questions, my mind starts to drift,
I think of a time when I can be in your place,
Knowing not if you reminisce your time on the other side,
I have revealed my personality,
But a lot is left unsaid over a cup of coffee.

With our questions answered, I am satisfied,
But are you?
The answer I know will take some time in coming,
With the shake of the hands, we part ways,
Leaving behind two empty cups and a few crumbs.
