When you need to begin again
And you are too old to begin again

When life becomes good again
And all the tensions and pains are forgotten
When things begin to flow
And happiness makes each small pleasure
...

After the long days of cold rain
The morning sun
is a sudden blessing-
...

THE DESPAIR OF HAVING NOTHING TO DO

The despair of having nothing to do
Does not belong to old age alone
...

An old man can go slowly in the morning
He can take his time
Going from one place
He does not need to be
...

THE NIGHT IS TOO DARK

The night is too dark
And I am too tired
...

DEATH COMES IN THE MORNING


Death comes in the morning
...

There is too much to remember
No one can remember it all
Forgetting is everywhere
All the time
...

The day is too beautiful to be inside in
The worlds of sunlight leaves and distant walkways
Call
But inside deeper than all darkness
...

They don't have to run
They can stop and look and love looking at the world
...
